Our Covenant
Our covenant was written in 1845. It is what joins us together in this local body of believers.
Do you now, in
the presence of
Almighty God, his holy Angels, and this witnessing assembly, confess
the Lord
Jehovah to be your God, and with sincerity of heart consecrate
yourselves to
his service?
Do you
heartily give up yourselves
to the one God--the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in an everlasting
covenant--to love, honor and obey him?
Aware of your own sins, and earnestly desirous of forgiveness and salvation, do you embrace the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior with a repentant heart, and do you rely solely upon his grace for acceptance and upon the Holy Spirit for your sanctification?
Depending upon his grace for assistance, will you solemnly strive to glorify God by faithfully upholding and fulfilling all Christian responsibilities, and will you diligently observe and keep his holy commandments and ordinances?
Will you particularly
promise to walk with
this church in ways that are consistent with the Gospel of
Christ--attending
its gatherings for worship and fellowship, submitting to its order and
discipline, and affectionately caring for its members by offering
encouragement and Godly counsel while also being willing to receive the
same
according to the standards of Christ's Kingdom?
Aware of Christ's mandate that we walk together in love and unity, will you endeavor to work out your differences with other members of this church, willing to admit when you are wrong, and willing to forgive when you've been wronged?
And will you strive conscientiously, to attend to all the duties of public, social, and private devotion, and as far as possible, to maintain a conscience that is in all things clear toward God and toward man?
